Kate's pet updates
Battersea Dogs HomeBattersea Dogs Home has sheltered and cared for over 3 million dogs and cats since it was founded in 1860. They currently care for over 15,000 animals a year. The home receives no government funding so our support really makes a difference.

The average dog spends just 23 days in the Home but many have been so mentally and physically scarred by their experiences before they reach the Home that they take a lot longer to rehome. That is why the care they receive there and their surroundings are so important in giving them the best chance of a brand new start in life.

Battersea’s unique rehabilitation unit gives difficult dogs a second chance to find a good home and their hard working veterinary department is dedicated to helping sick dogs back on the road to recovery.

Here are some Battersea Dogs Home facts:
  • Did you know that every day, around 28 lost or abandoned dogs arrive at Battersea?
  • Battersea’s dogs ate 64,266 tins of dog food in 2002
  • Volunteers at Battersea did 5,795 dog walks last year
  • In 2002, Battersea Dogs home cared for 12,500 dogs and cats
  • Every year, around 3,000 frightened cats arrive at Battersea in need of safe refuge
Take a look at Battersea’s website www.dogshome.org and find our how you can help.

Funky Friends sponsor two kennels. As a kennel sponsor Funky Friends provide a vital source of regular funding for the work at Battersea Dogs Home – helping to ensure that they are able to provide a safe place to stay for every unhappy dog and cat that needs their help. Our sponsorship helps to provide the essentials such as food, shelter and care. Shortly Battersea Dog’s home will be introducing ‘Kitty Kabin’. Funky Friends will also bring you updates on this.
